Hole-y Deliciousness: Egg in a Hole

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice of bread

  • 1 egg

  • Butter or cooking oil

  • Optional: salt, pepper, cheese, ham, tomato, avocado, or any other desired toppings



Instructions:

  1. Preheat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or cooking oil.

  2. Use a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice.

  3. Place the bread slice in the pan and crack the egg into the hole.

  4. Sprinkle the egg with a pinch of salt and pepper, if desired.

  5. Cook the egg until the white is set and the yolk is cooked to your desired doneness. A sunny-side up egg will have a runny yolk, while an over-easy egg will have a yolk that is just starting to set.

  6. If using any additional toppings, such as cheese or ham, place them on top of the egg while it is cooking.

  7. Once the egg is cooked, remove the bread from the pan and place the other slice of bread on top to create a sandwich.


Serve immediately.
